South Sudan Permanent Peace Movement(SSPPM)

Thoknaath Koak-Nyuon Thuokok was a former Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) soldier and freelance Journalist. He came to the United States on May 13, 1999 and resettled in Salt Lake City where he obtained his high school diploma. While doing his undergraduate degree, he founded the Youth Federation that enabled him to collect used clothes, school supplies, blankets, bed-sheets, medicines, mosquito nets, and tents to the refugees in Ethiopia, Uganda, Congo, Kenya, and Egypt. His steady humanitarian work led him meet the former United States Attorney General John Ashcroft in September 2003 through National Student Leadership Forum where he testified about the callous atrocities that had been done by the Sudan government against Darfur and South Sudanese.

Mr. Thoknaath earned his Bachelor of Science from Peru State College in Nebraska in 2004. After the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) that was signed in Kenya between Sudan government and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), he became the Administrative Secretary for Sultan General Ismail Konyi until he was granted study leave and then came back to the United States in 2007.

After earning Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Public Administration (MPA) from University of New Haven, Connecticut in 2010; he decided to go back to South Sudan for referendum preparation that led the Southern Sudan to be an independent State.

While in South Sudan, Mr. Thoknaath built the school for kids from all ethnic groups of South Sudan. He also established laundry business that help him financing the school’s operations.  Simultaneously, Mr. Thoknaath served as a business lecturer at Catholic University of South Sudan (CUSS), South Sudan Christian University of Science & Technology, and Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science & Technology. During his time at Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science and Technology, Thoknaath Thuokok served as Deputy Dean of College of Management Sciences; a position he held until he went for his PhD studies at University of Juba, South Sudan.

In March 30, 2015, Thoknaath Thuokok met with President of Republic of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit and requested him to bring peace in the country. Thereafter, Mr. Thoknaath realizes that the country needs more to be done in order to achieve peace in the country.  He is requesting every South Sudanese, friends of South Sudan, international community, and any person who cares for humanity to support him for his intention to be the next President of the Republic of South Sudan.
